The Volga region get going the serial building of ekranoplanes

R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod) designed 54-tons passenger ekranoplane “Chaika-2”, which will be serial built in the future.

The Deputy General Director for marketing and foreign trade of Hydrofoil Design Bureau, Sergey Korolev said about this at a press conference. According to him, Hydrofoil Design Bureau will start the creation of the first sample after the working out of technical project.

Building the first sample of ekranoplane “Ckaika-2”, was can see the demand for this product, and then we can talk about the beginning of its serial building. I think that it will be interesting for the Emergency Ministry as this transport can be used for passenger transportation as well as a means of salvation ensuring, - RIA News quotes Mr. Korolev.

Today Hydrofoil Design Bureau carries out the negotiation for the supply of ekranoplane to Gazprom, Rosneft and Roscosmos, which can operate this transport near the cosmodrome “Vostochny”. What is more, there are negotiations with potential customers from abroad.

According to Mr. Korolev, the price of the ekranoplane “Chaika-2” for the customers can be the same as is the price of twin-engine turboprop aircrafts for local lines, IL-114 or the passenger aircrafts for medium-hall airlines, IL-18.

Also in 2017 “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau” intends to complete the building of the headmost river vessel “Valda 45R”. The launching, plant and sea trials are planned in the summer. The experimental operation will be carried out at one of the existing routes in central part of Russia.

The ekranoplane is high-speed transport, vehicle, flying within the limints of aerodynamic screen, i.e. on the relatively small (up to several meters) altitude from the surface of water, land or ice. The wing area of the ekranoplane is much smaller than the aircraft with the equal mass and speed.
