The presentation of the ekranoplane of new generation “Chaika – 2” took place in Nizhny Novgorod.
As
it is reported on the website of JSC “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau”,
ekranoplane is designed for transportation of passengers and loads in marine
coastal areas, as well as for solving special tasks of the Emergencies Ministry.
It has amphibious and is able to get up on unequipped coast with slopes of up
to 5 degrees.
It
can be used as service-crew, ambulance, transport mean fir monitoring of
ecologic situation of inland waters. The operation is possible in winter on
snow and ice-smooth surfaces.
The
presentation was held in the framework of the ceremonial evnt, dedicated to the
100th anniversary of the birth of designer and shipbuilder
R.E.Alexevv. It was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of
Nizhny Novgorod region, Evgeniy Lebedev.
“There
are people, who can be ahead of time. Undoubtedly, Rostislav Alexeev is one of
them. His hydrofoils, hovercrafts and ekranoplanes are worldwide known, and
their possibilities amaze today, - noted Evgeny Lebedev.
“Today
the State technical University of Nizhny Novgorod is named after Rostislav Evgenievich
Alexeev. I want to believe that in 21st century the new generation
of talented engineers-designers, inspired by the ideas and example of the life
of Rostislav Alexeev, will contribute to the development of our Russian design
school. I am sure that our young people will be able to adequately continue the
work of Rostislav Alexeev, his colleagues and students, and will create new
samples of unique transport. All of us –
universities, business, military-industrial complex, legislators – will try to
create necessary conditions for their work. This is our duty,” – said the
Chairman of the LA of Nizhny Novgorod region.
The
Chairman of the Board of Directors – general designer of JSC “R.E.Alexeev’s
Hydrofoil Design Bureau”, Georgy Antsev gave Evgeny Lebedev a commemorative
medal, issued for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the
outstanding designer.
Information
Rostislav
Alexeev (December 18, 1916 – February 9, 1980) – engineer – shipbuilder,
designer of hydrofoils and ekranoplanes, doctor of technical Sciences, laureate
of Lenin and Staline prizes. He was born in Novozibkov of Chernigov province
(now, Bryansk region). After the graduation from the Polytechnica Institute, he
was sent to the plant “Red Sormovo”. Since 1942 he started to work on the
design of hydrofoils, carried out successful research and trials. In January of
1955 he became the head of Hydrofoil Central Design Bureau (CDB).
